Modernism

I picked the Harlem Renaissnace because I was most interested in this topic. I thought it was interesting how things changed over time and how the culture and people change. Also how music played a big factor in that change too. The mainstream of the new culture and the new ways of the african americans was enjoying it and taking it all in. It was right after war and families was getting back together and settle down. It was all a realy big movement that change the lives of african americans forever. It was a time that plays a really big role in the history of blacks.

The story Sweat Is about How she grow up in the a small town and how it was for her as a child. She lost her mother as a baby. Went to school and got her first look on racism. She started working at the age of 14 because she could finsh school because of her family problems. Then she stared writing and a man named Charles Spurgeon Johnson saw her work and brought her to New York where she was first introduction to the Harlem Renaissance. She was taken back by how different the North was from the South. The town also preserved its African-American culture and history

Realism

In the A Story of an Hour... Mrs. Mallard started to see the spring and all the new things that spring time brings with it and the smells of the rain was still fresh in the air. The songs of the sparrows was moving through the air like waves and made the day that more peaceful. The sky was full of white big clouds that sat of a clear blue sky that she just looked at from her window. Evidence I found in this story helped me to get a good image in my head of how the setting, place, and when the story took place. This is all a example of realism because of the how detail the story was. Like we she hear from herself a whispered that came from her lips and she would repeat it over and over again to herself. Her heart beat faster and her blood weared her body which made he relaxed. All the details in this story help read to see the real and see a image of how real things are. This story tells you how she charcter felt about her husband and it is a very good way to show the meaning of realism.

In the story The battle with Mr Covey... When Mr. Covey took the broad and hit gave him a big blow to the head and gave him a big wound and made him blood and then told him to get up. That seen that realism wanted people to see how things really happen in slavery and to put yourself in the place of the man getting beat all the time and blooding and still having to work and stuffer. You can feel the emotions and the pain of the people who went through this all the time. I like the way this story pointed out things. The story pointed out how slaves were beaten for such little things and for most of the time no reason. It was so curl and so harsh the you just couldn't believe someone could do these things.

Hotel Rwanda to me is a good movie that shows realism. Its showed the way people had to work hard, firght, and lose their lives for there rights. They had to leave their home lands for freedom because their homeland was being take over by another race. It was sad everything was in such details the showed how people was killed and how people was trying to hind and escape. It was so sad when if your married to someone in the was that was being killed off you had to let them go. I felt for them people I could really see myself there on the run trying to protect my life. this story was in such great detail and the realism of saving your own life was what this movie was about it was based all on realism.

Dark Romanticism

I feel like I would be closer to Transcendentalist instead of Dark Romanticism. Transcendentlist people seem more intrun with themselves and Dark Romanticism time the people seem lonely and sad and depress. Dark Romanticism the people seem like their life is painful and they have nothing to live for. At least Transcendtalist people believed in things and saw a reason for life and and so what of a good reason for why they beleive things was the way they where in their world. Transcendetalist people just seem more like me then Dark Romanticism because its way more postive and also becuase I try to find a reason for things that happen in life also.

As I was reading the story the part I was most intested in was the plan use to kill the man. If people didnt wonder so much about it know nobody would have found out about who killed the man and it would have been a big secret for a long time. It shows the man was not in his right mind but knew what he wanted done in the killing of the old man.

As i was listen to The Masque of Red Death. I didnt understand much of it but what i did understand was how they understand and there reasoning of evil. It also did explain the not every can be just pure good and have no evil in them. So i did understand now the difference from transcendentalist who believe everyone should be pure good from now reading that everyone cant live pure good.

Reading The Raven I can believe in the bird and I see why the port is against transcendentalist. The raven was able to do something wrong, but was forgiven and I see what message the poet is trying to point out that even when you do something wrong do mean your an evil person and dont mean you should give up on life because for every wrong thing you go you should make it up by doing the right thing and not letting that evil thing happen again.

The Transcendentalism

The story of Nature it seem to me it was trying to say how men and the earth help each other out and work together. It also seemed like they felt work is the only way to keep the earth moving.

The story Self-Reliance the story to me is talking about how work is the way a boy grow up to be a men. Working to them is a way to show their stength and menhood.

The story Resistance is a civil government that they feel is not all that good. I dont really understand the point of this story i guess its saying how the peoples minds are set in to their ways even if its bad or good right or wrong.

I like the video it gave be a better understand on the philosphy why men believe going out to the wilderness is a better place of work. I got why he spend so much time out there. He spent time with the wildlife and was able to build things to help him live and he hunted for food to help him live too. I feel like he liked it out there becuase he did a good job at it. he made the video about his all that had happen and am glad that he got out ok and did good for himself out there in the wild

American Romanticism

The story of Rip Van Winkle I found that the part about him falling asleep for nearly 18 years and then comming back home and notice the big changes that have happen is romanticism part of the story. He was confused and all the new changes and why people didnt know who he was and that there was so many new things to just had him at odds. I feel that this is romanticism because of the fact that he was dealing with a promble with emphasizes intuiton over logic. Which means he is not understand why things or the way that they are and why he is not sure if he is in the right spot. He still things he is dream and dont believe he was a sleep for almost 18 years. When he was walking into the new town he once knew as his home the people liked him when at one point in time they didnt like him. He was seeing all the new names in the town and how much it grown. He just change so much over the years he didn't get how that could all happen when he was sleep.

In the Poem Thanatopis to me it seems that its saying to people that you should be scared to die its natrual but that you should be scared of it happen to you. When they talk about morther nature I understand that to. Its saying that everyone dies and everyone dies equal you leave with what you came into this world with nothing but yourself.

I can put the image of the two fair maidens in a swing. Because I can seen that image real clear and i understand it the most. Its saying when you pass away you have to angles watching over you to help you rest peacefully.

To me its a picture of someone thinking about what rual areas look like because when romanticism started people lived in cities and didnt really know what the rual areas looked like. The mood to me seem like the person was paceful and letting off stress. If sets the tone of calm and on chill mood and just thinking about life and things that go on in life.

The Rationalists

Rationalists believe that everything could explained thourgh science where Purtains believe things like that should be left up to god's saying. Some people believe that god created the earth, but scientist believe that is was the Big bang thoery. So i took it that Purtains believe that god created everything that is here on earth and the Rationalists believe that everything was created by science. Benjamin Franklin said “men should be taught as if you taught them not, and things unknown propos’d as thing forgot” I feel that what he is saying true to about the rationalists, because things they cant explain they just dont know why they wont believe that it was all because of God.

13 Always think postive and beleive in yourself and let god help you.'

I feel that you can always do whatever you set your mind to doing. Nobody is perfect, but theirs always close to it but there's goign to be things or people to try and knock you down, but you have to set your mind to the goals you set for yourself and over come them bad things in your life. Theirs many people who are perfectist and have to have everything perfect and just right. To those who are looking at that person we see no wrong. But i feel that person is life is hard and alot of work to make their life so perfect.

The Puritans

Puritans believe that god's intentions are used in human actions. They also believe that because of Adam and Eva's down falls that everyone is born sinful. They also believe that god only saves and do for the people he want or wishes to save and help. They believe that god died for certain people not for everyone. Mostly they believe that god is not for everyone he is someone with high power and people have to earn the power he has to help.

i feel that the people who talked highly and greatly of the sinners was just trying to scare people into doing the right things. I dont at all think god picks the people who he wants to be punished and the ones he wants to save. i feel god lets people choose their own path and what path they choose is what say if their going to heaven or hell. because people have to go thur life and make changes better their life or make it worst or bad either way i just dont think god picks before they even have a change to live life to the fullest.

I feel god someone we look up to and he is the only thing that can judge people. I also feel god looks at people and help them make right chooses and make up for their mistakes or wrong doings. the way edward is talking about god i feel is wrong and he has no right to talk about and make people believe something so wrong just so scare people into doing the right thing. He makes god sound almost as someone evil instead of high good power and a guideness of good.

About the Mayflower story. when they got off the boat they was thanking god for letting them get there safe. Then they notice there was nothing very but land full of trees no houses or roads or markets. Then they stated asking god to help them get started and find away to make a new life on the new land they found. They felt if god help them get to the new land safe that god cause surely help them get a start a make a living there too.

When I think about how the Puritans lived I think like someone who used things around in order to get by and make a living. They took new things and learn from them and learned to use them in their life. Their out look on god to me is very bad. Honestly listen to this makes me think what is god's real meaning behind life. If he gave us all life why would he start us out sinful. The prutians have a strong out look on the reaso of life and when it is taken from you where do you go.

I think that the sermon Edward read to the people did not work because if it did then i think that the poeple would not even want to move and do things because they would be to scared to. i just dont see god letting people fall into hell for trying to do the right thing.

Limited Atonement - Jesus died for the chosen only, not for everyone. Irresistible Grace – God’s grace is freely given, it cannot be earned or denied. Sinners in the hands of an angry God also says that only a certain few are chosen to go into heaven and everyone else is going to hell and that you cannot earn Gods grace.

Total Depravity – through Adam and Eve’s fall, every person is born sinful – concept of Original sin. Sinners in the hands of an angry God also tells us that we are born with sin because of Adam and Eve.

Act 3 othello

Man i think things are getting way more interesting and am getting more and more into it. Its like now this whole the is playing out in Iago way. He has been setting up his plot and now it seems like he is really to see it all play out. The whole thing with the handerchief is like a master mind type plan I think Cassio is so blinded and not thinking about where he got the handerchief from in the first place then nobody wanted me having this problem.

mentor hours 2hours 5mins

I didnt go to the teen class i went to the abults class only cause i missed the teen class. This time doug could talk to me more because all the adults was doing was just goign over and over the routine to make sure everyone was on the same paste with each other. Since this was the last few hours i needed we most just talked about when I could come in and get the interview for the product. So am going to come back within the next week and get the interview. But like the other session i just watched him with teach the rest of the class. Then they ended a little early so me and doug just talked about he comming and being apart of his dance team. When he start a new routine I was thinking about comming back for the teen classes. After that I left.

mentor log 2hours and 45 mins

This session again I watched for the first hour of the teen class. As I was watching I was taking in all the moves they was doing because dancing is my passion and to be able to watch someone teach it and just watching and take it all in was something I was really into. I loved watching all the moves being broke down and really just watching doug break down eac part of the routine then at the end seeing the whole thing together was wild to me I loved it. Then as the teen session was over me and doug took a few minutes to talk about how he got started into dancing. He is from New York and he was telling me that hip-hop dance is a big part oof his culture. Dance itself was a big part of his life from when he was youger up til now. I was like wow I feel the same wat my life is based abour dance to. So I can related to him in many ways. I told him little bit about my topic and I told him about the product and how I was going to interview people for each thing I wrote aboutin my paper. He said I could interview him for the hip-hop dance part. After that is was time for his next class to start which was the adults class. I was goign to sit and watch that class for a little while cause I was so into the last routine he did with the teens I really was interested in what the routine was going to be for the adults. Man it was more movement and faster paster to it. I really likef it but I didn't stay another whole two hours i left 45mins in to the class. But it was another good session with my mentor i feel we got deeper into what i need to know and even talked about my product so everything is going good so far.

Mentor Log 2 hours and 20mins

i went to the dance studio to meet the hip-hop dance teacher douglas. He was teaching his 18-15 year class. I just sat there and watch for the first hour then when break came he came over adn asked my why i was the or if i was there for someone i then told him about the project and what i was doing and how i needed a mentor. The i told him about the hours then i asked him about the mentor he was like thats cool i could come on mondays and wensdays to watch him teach the teens and the adults classes. So after he went back to working with his class i just watch for the rest of the class. After the class was over we just got everything set as far as times and somethings to talk etc. I left when the teens left cause there wasn't really much more left to talk about plus it was our first time talking and we was just breaking the ice as you can say. So on that note that was in end of our first session.

Othello Act 3

I think this act was so far the most interresting act. Iago is really the master mind to all the bad things that are happen. If i was Othello i would sit everyone into a room and talk it out. Othello acts so quikly without looking everything thats going on. When Iago is going to everyone making everyone think that he is on their side and is helping them when really he is using them and playing all them. I feel if i could be anyone in this play it would be Iago cause he is smart in a evil way and i like how he is messing with everyones mind. On top of that his wife Emilia is even someone he is using to help him with his evil plan.

Iago is truning everyone on everyone expect on his self. His wife is welling to do anything for him no what. Then Iago is able to get into Othello's head that there might be something going on between his wife Desdamona and Cassio. Then he was able to get in Cassio head to go to desdamona to get Othello to give him his job back. Which now if Desdamona is going to talk to Othello about Cassio (alot) and othello thinking their messing around then thats all the drama and mess that Iago was hope for. I know for a fact this stroy is not going to end good but there was many many way n times that this stroy could have ended good. But because people are not realizeing the little things and people are being to trusting that this stroy is headed for something bad and wrong.

Now its like everyone is started to come out about all the lies and the mind games that is going on. Everyone confused and lost and people are thinking different things. I feel that so far people are being dum and not thinking right. Like the handerchife thing man if they would have been more care and picked it up right when it fell them none of this would be going on. It would just make Iago job more harder to find ways of setting up Cassio.

Othello Act 2

I got really lost in this act because of the the way the scense change. I do now know why Iago is doing the things he is doing. I think it's funny how Iago is setting up Cassio and how everyone is so blind of what he is doing. Getting Cassio drunk and picking firghts with him is a good idea to make him look bad in front of Othello. So that Cassio can lose his promotion is smart in a evil way. When that dosen't work then Iago whats to set him up in another way by useing Cassio and Othello's wife. Iago i can tell is very smart and has a plan A,B, & C for what he wants and he is going to work hard to get it. It's plain to see he dont care about nobody else but himself. He also is useing his own friend Roderigo. Making Roderigo think he is going to get something out of all this at the end when Iago really plans on himself getting something out of all this.

Cassio is a good man and is trying to take care of bussiness. Cassio is so blind sided by what Iago is doing. I think Iago knows everyone to well and no their weaknesses. Thats why Iago can plan ahead and think out what is going to do. When they went to Cypur's everyone got there both Othello. Iago was trying then to set Roderigo up with Desdemona and she was not having it. So it's plan to see that she is not feeling him at all. Desdemona and Othello is in love and it is plain to see that there's no breaking them up. Iago dose not really care about that either way he is just trying to get Cassio's spot.

Cassio and Desdemona are really to innocent people used in Iago's evil plan. Cassio is just trying to do his job and be a good right hand man to Othello. Desdemona is just trying to be a good wife to Othello and be by his side also. I like Cassio i just think he should look deeper inside of people and trust more wisely so should Othello.

Othello Act 1.

When i first started reading the book this book i didnt see it as interresting. I do see how this stroy make sence today because of the fact that it had sence that told a stroy and it holds the attention of everybody. I am really like the characters Othello & desdemona. I like them both because there really standing up for the love they have for each other. So far Othello is really sure about how he feels about Desdemona and well do anything to prove that. What makes it so different and more interresting is that Othello is a black men and also has to stand up for him self. I really had Iago and Roderigo because they seem to like to start trouble and let everybodies bussiness be known. I feel that both men are mad cause things didnt go their way and there trying to mess with everyone else for pay back. I think that if things was there way they wouldnt be acting like that.

I love it so far because it keeps me wondering whats going to happen next. Like when desdemona's father Brabantio sent a mood down to Othello's house to see whats going on instand of taking care of the matter in a more calm and in a better way. I still dont see why people cant just take the fact that when people are in love there's not much you can do to change that. From what i know about Iago he has a wife and is still trying to get with Desdemona. That shows alot about his character. One he most likely cheats on his wife and do not care about her feelings. Iago to seems to ever be safity til he get what he want no matter who he hurts or make unhappy just as long as he is happy.

I think its really funny how Brabantio is saying that Othello is using some kind of powers to trap his daughter. That he cast a spell on her and she dont know what she is doing. Then it was even more funny when Brabantio hears it from Desdemona say that her and Othello are married. He go crazy i just was thinking how he waas looking and reacting to it and that is was so funny. He started downing his daughter and put her down and wanted to discalm her too.

Someone to Love Me by Anne Schraff

Their's a girl named Cindy who is in a broken home there's no father and her mothers always choosen men over her. She always finding her self home alone and nobody to talk to besides her bestfriend from school. Cindy had very low self esteem about her self done to the fact people picked on her even her moms boyfriend picked on her. Her mom chooses her boyfriend over her most of the time. She barely see her mom dew to the fact her moms always with her boyfriend who has also manipulated her into staying out all nigth and not comming home to Cindy. Cindy has also missed alot of school and her moms dont even make her go most of the time so cindy go when she wants to go. Cindy has a few close friends but most of the time she is to her self and alone. Cindy is looking for someone to show interrest in her and someone who cares for her because there has been so many people to come in and out of her and some many people who has told her their going to be there but they end up letting her down. So cindy is really looking for someone who going to be there no matter what and going to help her and still around bad and good times. Cindy do try and go back to school and it pays off because the teacher realize she has got good talent in art she can draw really good. So the teacher gets her a part kind of like a job to work on the school news paper. In order to do that she has to come to school everyday so she do and everything pays off big time. Then she meets this boy who is her bestfriends ex boyfriend. She really do tries to leave him alone but the boy keeps pushing up on her alot and she keeps telling
